This is an e
xtended tutorial for Mocha for Final Cut using mochaShape. We look at some interesting techniques when working with multiple layers in Mocha for Final Cut and how to use the mochaShape data in Final Cut Pro.
The tutorial's main project aim is to create a series of masks using rotoscoping a moving van in a moving shot for secondary color correction using Final Cut's three-way color corrector.
Main skills used:
i) Adjust Preprocessing to create a solid track on an area with limited features
ii) Use keyframes to track co-planar areas, to create a good track even when features move offscreen
iii) Create separate tracking and roto layers, linking both together to limit the amount of manual rotoscoping.
iv) Use the Uberkey to create a master rotospline.
v) Export Shape data to Final Cut Pro.
vi) Understand the anatomy of a mocha shape layer.
vii) Add some quick color correction in Final Cut Pro to boost sky, sea & sand. Change the van's color.
viii) Create intersecting layers to build up the desired matte layer.
We will move between Imagineer Systems Mocha for Final Cut and Final Cut Pro.
